The Nationalmusée um Fëschmaart is delighted to showcase the unique work of Arthur Unger as part of its series on contemporary artists from Luxembourg. Known for harnessing the transformational qualities of copper, Unger has often been called an alchemist. This reflects his deep concern with materiality that has defined his practice from the early 1970s onwards. In addition to inventing a new technique using fire and copper, Unger also experimented with the process of ink wash painting over the course of his career. The show juxtaposes these two key elements of his practice, illustrating how the medium often becomes the message in his works. Form and content, thus, come together in a selection of highly expressive pieces from the 1970s through to the present day. Dive into Unger’s immersive world of copper and ink at the Nationalmusée um Fëschmaart!
