The director of the Kunsthalle München, Dr Roger Diederen, has invited Erwin Olaf to show his work in the exhibition Unheimlich Schön (2020). In preparation for the exhibition, Olaf's series Im Wald (2020) was conceived and realised by the artist in the Bavarian countryside around Munich. A selection from Im Wald is also the focus of the current show in Luxembourg. Dr Diederen will talk about the genesis of this series and the Munich exhibition, the reception of Erwin Olaf's work in Germany and the relationship of Olaf's work to old masters and contemporary art.
