Edward Steichen (1879–1973), a Luxembourg-born American artist, had a diverse career as a painter, photographer, filmmaker and curator.

He played a key role in shaping modern photography and curated the iconic Family of Man exhibition at MoMA. The museum holds the world’s largest public collection of his work, with 267 prints. From late 2026, the fifth floor will reopen with a permanent exhibition on his life and work.
